New thinking

   Genetic technologies SoliDNA is a company with the experience in the field of molecular medicine, development of new genetic diagnostics and innovative biotechnologies.Laboratory of Molecular Medical Biology is focused on elaboration of a new generation of diagnostics and therapeutics based on RNA interference phenomenon and recombinant proteins.

    Our company was co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP)  Laboratory is equipped with the most advanced research tools and high-resolution apparatus enable of performing the synthesis and analysis at genome and transcryptome level.Our strategic aim is to create a technological and scientific resource base allowing for development of useful bioinformatic projections as well as elaboration and implementation of new biotechnologies with particular acknowledgement of applications utilised in molecular medicine and gene therapy.

Our team was involved in many scientific projects finalized with publications of high-scientific importance.

The basic activities of our Laboratory of Genetics are divided into four main areas:

  • Genetic identification,
  • Medical diagnostics,
  • Nucleic Acid Synthesis and Sequencing,
  • Elaboration and implementation of innovative biotechnologies.

We are also interested in researching use and  implementation of scientific discoveries in biotechnology and medicine  based on rudimentary studies of genome, transcriptome and proteome. In recognition of the quality of our services we have been awarded international certificates including GEDNAP in genetic analysis  of STR systems as well as the certificate in mitochondrial DNA sequence  analysis in variable regions of mtDNA-HVI and mtDNA-HVII. The GEDNAP’s reliability tests are recommended by, among others, ENFSI (European Network of Forensic Science Institutes). Some certificates:

Our laboratory as well as clinical and research tests are registered in GeneTests system of The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

 

Professional experience and knowledge of our team within the field of  biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular medicine and genetic analysis  guarantee high quality of our research as well as certainty of results.Our team was involved in many scientific projects finalized with publications of high-scientific importance.

 

Misssion

Within the basic activity of our laboratory we can offer the following  services: DNA synthesis and sequencing, genetic  engineering and genetic identification (including paternity testing).  We are also  interested in researching use and  implementation of scientific  discoveries in biotechnology and medicine based on  rudimentary studies  of genome, transcriptome and proteome.

  • Appointment of SoliDNA's expert as a court expert in the area of: genetic and biochemical identification at the Regional Court in Cracow, Warsaw and Katowice Poland. Appointed on the basis of the Regulation of the Minister of Justice dated 24 January 2005 on court experts, art.1.1 and 1.2 (Journal of Laws No. 15, item 133).

 Experience of our employees in the field of biochemistry, biotechnology, genetic diagnostics, molecular medicine and forensic medicine, guarantees both high quality of performed analysis and certainty of results. Genetic tests are performed by experts with long-time scientific and diagnostic experience, which allowed them to become DNA genetics forensic medicine experts.

SoliDNA has also been awarded many times in the context of research performed in Laboratory of Molecular Medical Biology of SoliDNA, with, for example, the most  worth mentioning:

2009.11.16 – Małopolska Innovator award 2009 for melanoma malignum diagnostics and the most innovative biotechnologies of BioTe21 laboratory in the Malopolskie Province, awarded by the Technology Transfer Centre of the Krakow University of Technology and The Regional Self-Government of Malopolska. The aim of the competition is to promote innovation, and implement international projects aimed at the development of science.

2010.03.24 – member of scientific board assessing projects in the "Young Scientist – Creator Of Economic Reality" competition (organized by Cracow University of Technology) , financed by the program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education “Innovation creator – support of the academic innovative entrepreneurship”. Research projects entered in the competition related to different fields of science, such as automatics and robotics, renewable energy sources, applied IT science, construction, organic and inorganic chemistry, architecture, and even medical diagnostics.The competition was organized by the Cracow University of Technology Transfer Centre, under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Cracow University of Technology.

2009.04.16 – Leaders of the Polish National Health Care System (OSOZ) - main award 2009 in the category of medical innovations, aimed to acknowledge individuals and  institution whose involvement and undertakings bring about a significant quality improvement of the health care in Poland in 2009.

2008.11.18 – Distinction of BioTe21 in the main category of the top Laboratory of the year 2008 – a competition organized by Kronenberg Foundation Award of Citi Bank. The foundation's mission is to provide assistance to programs promoting the public good in the fields of education and local development.

  • 2006-2011, Project: Gene synthesis using the method of oligonucleotide assembly in PCR reaction, co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP). Adam Master’s project realized in Laboratory of Nucleic Acid Synthesis and Sequencing of BioTe21 in Cracow, Poland. The structural fund of EU allowed to provide the best quality, the most advanced research tools and high-resolution apparatus enable of performing the synthesis and analysis at genome and transcriptome level (ABI 3900 High-Throughput DNA Synthesizer, ABI 3100 Automated Capillary DNA Sequencer, HPLC, lyophilizer, thermocyclers and other research tools. The consortium aims at realization of many-year interdisciplinary research and training programmne as well as efficient implementation and commercialization of modern technologies by the Universities in Cracow.
  • Participation in an international proposal: Betacarotene metabolism as the risk of liver fat accumulation. Search for the new NAFLD risk markers, created for 7th EU Frame Programme in Health priority, coordinated by Collegium Medicum at Jagiellonian University.
